My story and heart for people starts with my parents. In the 70’s, they migrated from Guyana, South America to the USA. They settled in Brooklyn, NY where I was born. Six years later we moved to Tampa, Florida. My entire childhood, I was surround by diversity and people that did not look like or talk like me. My parents embraced everyone and this instilled in me a love for diversity in its many forms. This love for people propelled me to pursue a career that would help others. In preparation to become a medical doctor, I graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in Gerontology and Chemistry. Following graduation, I taught school for one year and then had the opportunity to travel with a music and missions ministry. After finishing my commitment, I returned to Tampa and finally had the courage to seek the Lord’s call on my life to ministry. I got heavily involved in my local church’s leadership and soon thereafter started to ask God to ‘order’ my next steps. Steps that would lead me to my awesome wife, Jacquelyn. In 1999, we met while I was leading a college ministry in Tampa. We were married in 2002 and now have four children (Sebastian, Symone, Shiloh, Sheridan).
As a family we have continued to be involved in ministry. I have served as a Missions Pastor, Executive Pastor, non-profit Executive Director, Church Planter, and Church Re-planter. All of these positions have afforded me the opportunity to grow in my love for diversity and seeing unity take place across many constructed boundaries. I am excited about this new ministry season at Blueprint and what God has in store. I truly want to embody this verse as I allow the Lord to order my steps.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:16-17 (ESV)
